The Villa’s track team ran at Bedford yesterday. Our team is small, but our spirit and talent are enormous: most teams have over one hundred athletes, while ours has just seventeen. This was our first meet of the season.
The Villa took first place in two of twelve events while breaking two Villa track and field records. Oliver Thomas jumped his way to first place in the 100-meter hurdles while breaking his own school record. He then ran the 100-meter dash, taking first place again and taking the school record by more than one-third of a second. Usain Bolt holds the world record at 9:58, and Oliver is just 3.06 seconds away. Nice running!
Our relay team of Oliver Thomas, Alex Mangini, Peter Theodoulou, and Max Syversen are closing in on breaking the Villa record. Our boys are a mere one second away. The meet also featured standout performances by Julianna Trost in the 400-meter dash, Vivien Merryfield in the discus, and Maggie Fifield in the 800-meter dash. Go Villa!

All families wishing to apply for financial aid must submit completed applications to the FACTS office by Wednesday, May 1. Please note that, in addition to the online form, parents must submit or mail additional tax information to the FACTS company.

Please note also that since paper applications must be sent directly to the FACTS management company in Omaha, Nebraska, families should mail them off several days ahead of time!

The second annual Villa 5k Road Race will be Saturday, June 1st. The race will kick off Goffstown Old Home Day with a race start time of 8:00am. The race will start at the Villa, head uptown, and end back at the Villa – the same course as last year. The first fifty registered runners will receive a free t-shirt! Discounted rates of $20.00/adult and $15.00/Villa student are available through online registration, but hurry, the registration fee will be raised to $25.00 on race day. Register today for this great race!

Need a little extra motivation to keep your New Year’s Resolutions going strong? Come to the Villa’s Community Health and Safety Fair on Sunday, January 27 from 12 PM-4 PM for an afternoon of fun activities that will get you and your family excited about living a healthy life in the new year! Activities include karate, massages, rock climbing, snowshoeing, raffles, door prizes, fingerprinting, facepainting, dance, and more! There are activities for all ages, with lots to learn and explore! Click here for more info.
We’re also in need of volunteers for the fair. We need adults to monitor the snowshoeing events, monitor the rock wall, and to do facepainting. (Junior high students may also wish to get involved with facepainting!) We can also use donations of prepackaged goodies (store-bought, nut/peanut-free, with labels) for our bake sale. We could also use assistance setting up and cleaning up before and after the event. Finally, any donations for our raffle would be much appreciated.
